Clare Hawkins, PhD

Clare Hawkins is Acting Deputy Scientific Director and Head of the Inflammation Group at the Heart Research Institute in Newtown, Sydney. She gained her PhD in Chemistry at the University of York (UK), before making the move to Sydney to take up a post-doctoral research position at the Heart Research Institute with Professor Michael Davies. Clare is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow and President of the Society for Free Radical Research Australasia. 

Her research is focussed on understanding how oxidants modulate cellular function under inflammatory conditions, and the role of these reactions in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.
